Moth & Myth began in 2015 as a passion project between friends and artists, Kari-Lise Alexander and Redd Walitzki. What started as a simple idea—creating beautiful, cruelty-free paper moths and butterflies—quickly grew into a thriving creative community. Their intricate, sustainable designs offered an eco-friendly way to bring the wonder of nature into art, jewelry, and decor, capturing hearts and imaginations around the world. Today, Moth & Myth enters an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Roxy Schultz, an artist and longtime admirer of the brand. With a deep love for these delicate creations and years of experience using them in her own jewelry designs, Roxy is honored to carry Moth & Myth forward with the same passion and care that it was founded on.
“When we started on this adventure called Moth & Myth, we had no idea the beautiful company it would become. Thank you to our wonderful customers (you) for showing your support and growing with us over the years. It’s been incredible to be a part of your lives in some small way. While we are passing the torch to the next generation of ownership, we couldn’t have asked for a better steward of Moth & Myth. Roxy exemplifies all the values and qualities we hold so dear. She is a wonderful person, and we are so excited for this next chapter of Moth & Myth.”
— With much love and gratitude, Kari-Lise & Redd
Roxy’s journey with Moth & Myth began as a customer, integrating the paper specimens into her botanical and faux insect jewelry line, Wild by Design. She quickly fell in love with their artistry and the creative possibilities they offered. When Roxy learned that Moth & Myth was in a period of transformation, she recognized the profound impact it had on the creative community and felt compelled to carry its legacy forward. Over the past few months, Roxy has trained closely with Kari-Lise and Redd to ensure a smooth transition, and she is committed to preserving what makes Moth & Myth so special. Based in Portland, Oregon, Roxy is excited to continue fostering the strong connections within the artistic community, working with makers, crafters, and collectors who bring these paper specimens to life in such inspiring ways.
As we move forward, Moth & Myth remains dedicated to its core values: sustainability, artistry, and accessibility. We will continue to create cruelty-free alternatives to real specimens, support small businesses and independent artists, and strive to make a positive impact on the creative world. Whether you have been with us from the beginning or are just discovering our work, we are so grateful to have you here and cannot wait to share what’s next.
